It's a Photograph

This work is an exploration of the photograph as an entity in its own right.

Photographs are often seen as an indexical record of objects that existed in reality. When photographs are viewed the first question in the mind of the viewer is often “What is this?” Questions as to the photographer’s motivation or their intentions to produce the images come second.

This work attempts to create images that whilst remaining as unmanipulated as possible, aren’t immediately representative of anything. The paradox within these images however is that to create a photograph in a conventional sense something has to be in front of the lens.
